Trying out my new Corel Painter 12

i just got corel painter 12 yesterday and couldn't wait to break it in. so this is my drawing i made practicing the different brush and pen tips on. still can't figure out color layering on it.
anyhoo... i call this little, happy-go-lucky drawing of mine, "Patriotisnt". get it? 'cause it's all a false sense of what patriotism is, and, and...eh nevermind.

So I took a trip to Atlanta, GA with some friends...

and by "i took a trip" i mean i was given an ultimatum to get in the car. ...not really, but i needed a little convincing. first time there. very cool sights to be seen. now i'm not much for the big city--frankly i keep as far away as i can, but it certainly was interesting, i'll give it that. i was blown away by the artwork. very politically and spiritually minded. Work of the occult or of the free, artistic mind? i'm not sure. but very interesting and thought-provoking either way.

what the hell was i doing there?!
anyways...umm, yeah...atlanta. not a place i could ever live, but a beautiful experience nevertheless.

"Soundless"

a poem of mine. 01/12/12.

"Soundless"

"I was here before you and I'll be here after
Standing like a statue that has no master
No age to achieve or disease to gain
Nothing to overcome but a nameless name
Smiles grew into love that blooms
And withers away into winter's tombs
You can't keep something that was never real
So I lose all as I began to feel
Three words that hype and influence
Become nothing more than false sentiments.

I lived here before you and I'll live still after
But I will feel these wounds that you feel with laughter
Through pain and torment suffered in life
You'll forget my voice and forget my right
And I'll walk to the ends and find it again
And the same will repeat; the same will happen
I do feel pain, I do make tears
For a lifeless stone I have such fear
Like a soundless cry that tries to be heard
This statue I'll always stay, without a word."

rEVOLution!

a wonderful ad that sums up ron paul's entire campaign. please watch if you don't know what he really stands for. yes, i'm pimping ron paul. now, put down that tv remote and stop listening to cnn and fox news that pervert the truth, and learn this stuff for yourself. and find out why the men and women in our military support him--giving his campaign nearly twice the donations than that of all the other gop candidates and obama combined! ...there's obviously something different about him.
here's a link to the highlights of ron paul's *consistent* voting record.
and if you think the site and video i've supplied are bias misinformation, there are tens of sites out there you can check out for yourself. "life's a garden, dig it?"

And The Groundhog Said...

this is me (far left) earlier this month at the groundhog festival up in punxsutawney, pennsylvania--home of groundhog's day for those of you that don't know (which seems to be most). Trying to get a picture of that lovable, squirrely vermin, but all i could get was trees and masonic top hats so i won't post those pictures here. bill murray's groundhog's day is actually much different from the real deal. the movie wasn't even filmed in pennsylvania, but in fact, in new york. no lovely park or quaint town square. just trees and mud and sad, indifferent conversations about when this groundhog's going to kill over. the moment the men in the funny top hats, the "inner circle" (which i believe the masons figured, "that title sounds friendly and inviting and in no way creepy. don't you?"), announced to the crowds from a scroll carrying a pre-determined forecast--and no, the groundhog did not write it, that we'll be seeing winter for another six weeks, everyone BOO'd and literally ran in unison towards the busses at the enterance to leave. from where i was standing in the picture below you could probably see my terror. like a tidal wave of enraged chipmunk enthusiasts hurdling towards me! i nearly let out an ear piercing squeal and shot into the air and ran with the crowd! It was like that scene from the lion king when mufasa was running through the antelope--and nearly had the same ending for me. ...eh, i might've dramatized the situation a bit, but you get the idea. so that's the real groundhog's day festival.
ps, the groundhog was wrong as usual.

My First Monster

a somewhat-recent, goofy drawing i did of a children's story-esque character. i'm new to digital art and coloring, so this is my first crack at that.
